Originally named the croissant monster because this item was made from croissant offcuts and often looked quite monstrous. We're much better at making these now, but the name has stuck. We add extra butter and sprinkle cinnamon-spiced sugar over the pastry before baking and then rolling in more cinnamon sugar.
